TATTAPANI

Hot spring Tattapani is a small village located in the Karsog tehsil of Mandi district Himachal Pradesh. It is situated about 55 k.m from Shimla. It is the middle point of Shimla Karsog on road. You can visit here whenever you want. It is a very beautiful place. The temperature of Tattapani is quite pleasant.

Holy place

Hot spring Tattapani is a holy place and is situated on the bank of the Satluj river the hot sulfur springs here are believed to have medicinal properties that can cure skin diseases and joint pain. It is also a holy place. It is believed that people who go to Haridwar for bone immersion of ancestors have also immersed bones on the Satluj river at Tattapani and have to take a holy bath here.

Festival

every year a festival (Mela) is celebrated here. It is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar Magha month Makar Sankranti day which comes one day after from Lohri festival. The Mela is celebrated for three days but continues for a month. Many people came here during that time, to take bath and make a holy daan says Tuladaaan. Tula Daan also famous as Maha Daan is one of the prominent ancient rituals of Sanatan Dharma as per sacred text and astrology as well. When any individual is suffering from health issues, Gruh Dosh, Pitru Dosh, or any other hurdle then Tula Daan helps to cure each problem and attain the Moksha.

Famous for

Tattapani was firstly only famous for its festival and as a holy place. Many people came here only at festival time. But nowadays after making the coal dam in the Satluj river water stops there and makes a big lake now it is a famous tourist place. Here you can enjoy water supports, boating, rafting, and winter festival as well as enjoy water sports during summer.

It is also famous for its recent world record of making 1995 kg of khichdi and entered the name into the Guinness Book of World Records. This was prepared on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on 14-Jan-2020. about 25 chefs from the Himachal Pradesh Tourism department prepared the said dish in 5 hours and used 405 kg of rice, 190 kg pulses, 90 kg ghee, 55 kg spices, and 1100 liter of water.
